Why Visiting Cagayan De Oro is a must

Cagayan de Oro is a vibrant city located in the northern region of Mindanao in the Philippines. Often referred to as "The City of Golden Friendship," it's a fascinating destination that's sure to captivate any traveler. Here are some of the top reasons why I think Cagayan de Oro is worth visiting:

First and foremost, the natural beauty of this city is absolutely breathtaking. From majestic waterfalls to sprawling caves and mountains, there's no shortage of awe-inspiring natural wonders to explore. One of my favorite spots was the Mapawa Nature Park, where I found myself surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees. I also highly recommend checking out the Macahambus Hill Cave and the iconic Maria Cristina Falls, which are truly stunning.

If you're an adrenaline junkie, Cagayan de Oro is a must-visit destination. White water rafting is a popular activity in the city and definitely worth trying out. The rapids of the Cagayan de Oro River provide an exhilarating ride that will leave you with a lasting memory. If that's not enough, there are other heart-racing activities like ziplining, canyoning, and bungee jumping.

For those interested in culture and history, Cagayan de Oro has plenty to offer. The Xavier University Museum is a fantastic place to learn about the city's rich heritage, and the Museum of Three Cultures offers an immersive experience of the area's diverse culture. And of course, no visit to the city would be complete without visiting the stunning St. Augustine Cathedral.

Another great thing about Cagayan de Oro is the food. The local cuisine is a blend of different flavors and styles, making it a must-try for foodies. Lechon is a roasted pig dish that is famous throughout the country, and Cagayan de Oro has some of the best. Other must-try dishes include kinilaw, which is raw fish in vinegar and spices, and sinuglaw, which is a combination of grilled pork belly and raw fish. If you're feeling daring, be sure to try balut, a fertilized duck egg that is considered a delicacy.

Finally, the festivals in Cagayan de Oro are something to behold. The Higalaay Festival, held in honor of St. Augustine, is a lively and colorful celebration that showcases the city's unique culture. There are street dances, parades, and a variety of cultural events that are sure to keep you entertained.

In conclusion, Cagayan de Oro is an exciting destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you're a nature lover, a thrill-seeker, a history buff, or a foodie, there's plenty to see and do in this city. So why not add it to your travel bucket list? I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
